The City of Eloy Landfill

You may find that after you get your great dumpster container you still need two self-haul some of your waste. There are several possible reasons for this. For example, you may just have a little more debris than you expected. In such cases, it is not cost-effective to pay for a dump and return service. Residents of Eloy residents are allowed to self-haul up to one ton (or one thousand pounds) of debris per day at the landfill. Because the City takes in less than two hundred and sixty thousand dollars per year for operations, there as some costs even for residents to use the landfill.

There are also needs to increase the personnel (there are currently only three people running the facility) and improve equipment and a cost of fifty-five thousand dollars per year and one million and four hundred thousand dollars respectively. As a result, residents must pay and forty-five-dollar fee at the gate. The first tone is free, and then there is a cost of twenty-five dollars per ton.

Eloy: The East Side of Yuma

The community was named by the Southern Pacific Railroad, which built a switch here in the early 1900’ twentieth century. In its early days, the Southern Pacific Railroad built the first railroad across Southern Arizona near the end of the nineteenth century. It was known as the East Line of Yuma and later they added a siding and section house six miles west of Picacho. The siding was named Eloy, which is the acronym for the East line of Yuma.

During the construction of the railroad, ELOY was often handprinted on construction drawings and maps, rather than writing out East Line of Yuma on each drawing. This began the beautiful story of Eloy, which was established in the late 1800s and eventually became a regional trade center for a resonant agricultural economy.
