Park Ridge and the Maritime Portage

The Pottawatomie tribes of Native Americans originally inhabited the City of Park Ridge. Later, French explorers noted that the area was strategically located between the Chicago and Des Plaines rivers that would become a portage for ships: an area of land in which boats could be moved across land to continue their nautical voyage. In 1830, Captain Mancel Talcott built the first house in the areas, and what was originally an agrarian community transformed into an industrial community in the late 1800s.

Renting a Dumpster in Park Ridge

There are a number of companies in Park Ridge that offer dumpster services but is in important to be careful regarding pricing and service. How do you know that you are getting a good price? Part of the problem in the waste disposal industry is that pricing is different by different locations, which have different disposal fees, taxes, and other fees, and with projects that require different timelines and types of waste. Some companies will offer variable rates, which sound very good because these prices only include the base-line-costs that are always included in any project. It sounds great, but as you go, waste disposal fees, fuel taxes, and many other fees kick in and as you go resulting in a different price than the original quote. Easy Dumpster Rental understands that customers want to know their price before they commit to a service so that they can compare prices and budget for a job. Accordingly, they offer flat rates that estimate you full costs based on your location and project needs and guarantee that price against our competitors.

Lowering Your Dumpster Bin Rental Costs

One environmental method of reducing your dumpster rental costs is to recycle. Recycling waste is a great way to save space and weight for your dumpster bin by self-disposing of items that are received for free and may even make money if you have any metals in your garage or bin. Some things can be collected by the Village, including rinsed aluminum and tin can, tins, and metal lids. Glass and bottles and jars are also collectible. Paper (office paper, newspaper, and catalogs) and plastic items are collected or can be received to the Village. Residents may also have furniture and appliances collected by the Village’s service. However, other items require special arrangements.

Electronics: According to the Electronics Products Recycling and Reuse Act, electronic items must be diverted from landfills and disposed of separately. Common electronic items include:

  • Computers and computer accessories, including desktops, monitors, laptops, tablets, monitors, printers, keyboards, mice, zip drives, and computer cables and cable receivers.
  • Entertainment devises including televisions and satellite receivers, video game councils, disk players and videocassette recorders and players.
  • Office equipment, such as scanners and fax machines.

Paint: If you are cleaning out a shed, attic, or garage, you are likely to find a lot of old paints that have been there for years. Oil-based paints should be taken to a hazardous waste facility to be disposed of properly. Oil-based paints are considered hazardous waste in Illinois and must be disposed of through a hazardous waste faculty. Or may, in some cases, be donated to local schools and churches if there is a demand. Latex paints can also be donated, but may also be disposed of in municipal waste. The only catch is that all latex paint must be hardened, and there for a solid, or treated to become a solid. To solidify paint, simply add cat litter, sawdust, or sand to the fluid until it becomes dry. Then it can be placed in your garbage or dumpster bin.

Plastic bags: Many cities do not receive plastic bags in recycling because they do not work well in many sing-stream recycling systems. This may seem counterintuitive that plastic bags cannot be placed with other plastics, but is often the case. The easiest way is to put lots of plastic bags into one bag and take these bundles to the local grocer for special recycling.
