Sheffield Lake lies due west, about 25 miles from Cleveland, on the shores of Lake Erie. The current population is close to 9,000 residents. The city has 10 parks and is operated under the care of the City of Sheffield Lake Park Board. Some events the city holds each year include an Easter Egg Hunt and a Christmas Tree Lighting. You can visit the Allen Memorial Art Museum and the 103rd O.V.I. Memorial Foundation/Civil War Museum. The parks department provides a boat launch. There are performing arts centers and art museums. You can find plenty of restaurants and shopping venues. There are a few well-regarded universities just a short drive from the city including Oberlin College, Baldwin-Wallace, and Case-Western Reserve.
Recycling and Trash Removal
The city uses blue carts for its trash collection services. It is requested that you put your cart within three feet of the curb. All yard debris and grass clippings are to be put in brown paper yard waste bags. Brush should be bundled neatly and tied securely. Tree trimming should not exceed four feet in length and not weight more than forty pounds. It is expected that all carts will be out by the curb no later than 6 am on the pick up day.
Leaf pick up services begin in late October and runs through mid-December. After this period leaves must be placed in your trash cart. During the spring months, leaves need to put into paper refuse bags.
Sheffield Lake does offer weekly recycling services. Each resident is provided with a 96-gallon recycling bin. As with the trash cart, recycling bins need to be placed within 3 feet of the curb.

The Lorain County collection Center will not accept the following materials
- Radioactive materials
- Unknown cylinders
- Construction debris
