For those of us that live in Riverton, development is not something that happened, but that is consistently happening. Keep Riverton Beautiful is a local initiative that combines city resources and community-sensitive citizens to keep the city beautiful all the time. These programs can be very useful to your project when you rent a dumpster bin.

• Landfill voucher: Landfills can be an essential resource when you are working on your project. Most people overlook the usefulness of a landfill because they figure they have a dumpster bin and should have it made. But there are things that cannot go into your bin. For example, if you are renovating your kitchen, appliances generally cannot go into your bin. Electronic waste is also prohibited from bins, and hazardous waste can never go into your dumpster bin. Thankfully, the city of Riverton offers a free landfill voucher for ten dollars for residents. You may get up to two vouchers per year, which can be sued at Trans-Jordan Landfill. You may pick up your pass at the Riverton City Hall Utility Billing Window at 12830 South Redwood Road in Riverton. The voucher may be used at the Trans-Jordan Landfill at 10473 South Bacchus Highway in South Jordan.
• Christmas tree recycling: Properly disposing of live Christmas trees is important, and is one of the great things that the Keep Riverton Beautiful program offers. Residents may drop off their trees at one of the drop-off locations. They include Centennial Park at 13000 South 2700 in West Riverton, Monarch Meadows Park at 13600 South 4800 West Riverton, and the Riverton Rodeo Arena at 12800 South 1300 in West Riverton.
• Spring clean-up days: Riverton City is sponsoring two Spring Clean Up Days with community dumpsters at two locations available each day for 1) trash and 2) green waste. Residents are invited to spruce up their yards and homes those days and dispose of waste at the community dumpsters.
• Recycle right day: Recycling events can be a great way to get rid of all of the extra recycling and things that are hard to recycle. At the Recycle right Dady event, you can recycle things like electronics, glass, tires, cardboard, and bulk paper (for shredding) at Riverton City Park, 1452 W 12600 S, Riverton. Riverton Quick Facts

One of the great early development in Riverton that has made it what it is today was the Page-Pixon store in the 1880s just west of Redwood Road at 12760 South. This great department store sold everything from building materials for homes to coal to keep them warm, dry good grain, and housewares for living. The store was later named the Page-Hansen store. The store was built around 1881, west of Redwood Road at 12760 South. Riverton was also built by its expanding farming community that fed its business community, and Riverton became a hub of experts for agriculture of alfalfa, wheat, sugar beets, tomatoes, poultry, sheep, and dairy cows. The success of Riverton was fed, in part, by the development of new machinery that advanced the agriculture industry as electricity became available in Riverton in 1912.
