The City of Euclid (My hometown) was founded in 1796 and was named after the Greek mathematician. The village is situated on the shores of Lake Erie. The current population is 48,000 residents. The town has a huge Slovenian heritage, and many streets have Slovenian names. The National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame is located here. Memorial Park, is a 56-acre park is right in the middle of the town. Here you can find a swimming pool, baseball diamonds, an ice arena, and tennis courts. The City also runs a public golf course. The Fortune 500 company Lincoln Electric is headquartered in the town. In the ’60s and ’70s, TRW and Reliance Electric had their corporate headquarters here as well. Some well-known people from the area include actress Monica Potter, football great Robert Smith, who played at The Ohio State University, and astronaut Sunita Williams.

Recycling and Refuse Collection

The City of Euclid provides weekly garbage pick up. 65-gallon containers are provided for each residency. The bins must not be placed on the tree lawn before 6 pm or the city will fine you $75. Weekly recycling is also provided by the city. A 65-gallon recycling bin is given to each resident and business establishment.

The following items are accepted for recycling cans, glass, milk cartons, junk mail, and magazines. Prohibited materials include styrofoam, plastic bags, toys, shrinkwrap, and motor oil.

Bulky items such as furniture, tires, and lawnmowers will be picked up on your regularly scheduled pick up day. Three times a year the city will pick up household hazardous waste. Contact the city hall because the dates change every year.

Dispose of Medication

If you need to dispose of medications, you can do so at the Drug Drop Box located at the Police Department. It is very important that you take advantage of this service. If medications are tossed down the drain or flushed down the toilet, it has been proven that trace amounts of medications are showing up in our drinking water. So please use this service.

E-Waste

You can drop off discarded fluorescent at the Home Depot on East 200 Street, will gladly accept them. Twice a year, at the John A. Piscitello Center on Lakeland Drive, you can drop-off your E-waste with the exception of television sets. The Lube Stop on Euclid Avenue will accept up to 6 quarts of used motor oil, and the service is free.
