The Tremendous Value In Recycling

It’s a sad state of affairs today in our Countries recycling efforts or lack thereof. According to many sources over 75% of all solid waste going to our landfills can actually be recycled. Imagine if we put more of an effort into recycling the dramatic effect it would have on the landfill industry.

There would be less of a demand for new landfills to be built. Our landfills would not be so overwhelmed with trash and our environment would have less pollution.

Plastics is one of the worst offenders. Our oceans are becoming one large plastic patch. This has a direct effect on the food we eat. And because plastics are made from petrochemicals when they begin to breakdown they pollute our seas, lakes, and streams.

All you have to do is scan your local beach and there are literally thousands of plastic bags, bottles, and straws littering our coasts. And eventually, these products are swept into our oceans. Some scientist estimates the size of the Pacific Ocean patch to be as large as Texas. Every year we throw away 50 billion food and drink cans.

Also, 30 million glass bottles and jars and 70 million plastic and metal jar covers. So what can we do to help? Start recycling! And it is easy as following the 3 R’s:

  • Reduce: Bring a tote bag to the grocery store. Use products that are returnable or reusable. Avoid snack packs and single serve containers
  • Reuse: Re purpose items. Instead of throwing away old jars use them instead to store nails or screws. Donate unwanted clothes or books to the Goodwill or other charitable groups.
  • Recycle: Instead of buying plastic bottles but glass instead. Purchase products that have been made from recycled material.

These are just a few things you can do to help rid our environment of hard to break down materials. Do a Google search and explore all the possibilities so you can have a positive effect our eco-systems.

Easy Dumpster Rental has a wide variety of container units available to help you get your recyclables to either a recycling center or landfill that recycles. We have very favorable rates and will be more than happy to help.

It’s that easy!
